Boy was I Wrong Ya know, I've never been a big Woody Allen fan, so I avoided this movie all these years - my bad! This is one of those nostalgic, coming-of-age movies that I love, and has to be right toward the top of my list! Mia Farrow and Diane Wiest were great, and so many scenes made me think of my childhood - I think I was just as goofy as Seth Green's character, Joe . I think we all had family-members who mirrored these characters...Aunt Bea (not to be confused with The Andy Griffith Show's Aunt Bea, although they were b…
You know, sometimes Hallmark movies are just the right thing. Yes they're predictable, and sometimes the acting is a bit sketchy...but sometimes, like when you're working on a school project, or a project in the workshop, one of these in the background is just right. They're calm, not overly dramatic, and kinda feel homey. Not a bad thing at all. The Valley of Light was one of those movies. A soldier returning home from World War II, lost his farm and family, wanders around fishing 'til a ghost tells him to check out …
Northern Lights stars LeAnn Rimes , Eddie Cibrian , Greg Lawson , Rosanna Arquette , Jayne Eastwood , William MacDonald , Christianne Hirt , Adrian Hough . It's certainly not the height of cinema, but it's an enjoyable made-for-TV movie. LeAnn Rimes makes the movie worth watching, and the film is nice for when you feel like something low-stress. I also like the Alaskan setting and scenery, and the awesome town name of, wait for it - Lunacy! Sounds perfect! REVIEWS: Lindsay Soll over at Snap Judgement has a pretty spot-on r…
Here's the setting - I had a surprise day off work because I switched out for a day next week due to next week being crazy, so I ran across this movie on YouTube. It wasn't particularly good, but it wasn't particularly bad either. It was pretty predictable, but had the feel of Straw Dogs - a movie I really liked. Come to think of it, I should probably put that movie on here! In the end, it was okay, slightly entertaining, with James Russo and AJ Cook putting in decent performances. REVIEWS: It was pretty hard to find …
The Yellow Rolls Royce was a fun movie. I had never heard of it before this past winter, but I loved it. The vignette-style of the movie made for some interesting emotional connections which became poignant to me when considering those material things that outlive us. Shirley MacLaine was great in this movie, which was packed with the likes of Ingrid Bergman, Omar Sharif, Rex Harrison and George C. Scott. REVIEWS: An interesting blog over at It Rolls has quite a good review of the movie. One of the shortcomings of the movie they…
Machiavelli to Kaiser Soze This was a surprisingly good movie. It reminded me a little of Michael Clayton ...although not quite as good. Jessica Chastain was incredible in this one, incredibly Machiavellian! However, Miss Sloane reminds me of Kaiser Soze in her scheming, planning, cunning and ruthlessness. The movie also had Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, Alison Pill and John Lithgow. Apparently Miss Sloane didn't do well at the box office, and several outlets panned it pretty badly, but hell - I rarely agree with the critics anyway!…
